Why did you choose College Prep? I chose College Prep because I wanted to expand my knowledge and to get a deeper perspective in my education.
What is the biggest difference between middle school and high school? The work you turn in has to be more concise and focused. During my two years at College Prep I've noticed that I have turned in a lot more work that I am actually proud of and that I actually care about.
What advice would you give to 8th graders applying to high school? Start really getting your fundamental studying skills down and start learning how to ask for help.
What is your favorite place on campus? My favorite place on campus is the gym because it is always open and I can work on my athletic skills and clear my mind before class.
What are you involved in on campus? I am a leader of a Common Classroom called Aux Battles (where 2 people pick a song and whoever has the best song wins), a proud member of the Black Student Union, a writer for the school newspaper, Radar, and a member of the Basketball team.
What has been your favorite class so far? My favorite class is either Atlantic Worlds or English. In both classes we dig deep into the context and find the true meaning behind the text. Both classes are a lot of fun and allow for a lot of student engagement and individualism.
What is your favorite thing about College Prep? My favorite part of College Prep is the variety of different backgrounds of people. Everyone has their own perspective and ideas, and experiences which leads to a lot of different thoughts in class and adds to our conversations.
What is your favorite character from a movie/book/television series? My favorite character is Miles Morales: Spider Man because he portrays a super hero of color which is typically not shown in mainstream media
Three unusual things about me:
1. I am a part of the Oakland Youth Commission.
2. I have a heart shaped birthmark on my wrist.
3. I made the Track & Field Nationals.
