2022-23 SCHOOL Year OPERATIONS

College Prep is prepared to respond to the continuing demands of a dynamic public health environment.
As we do so, we are guided by what is permitted by California and Alameda County and the surrounding counties where students, faculty, and staff reside; our ability to ensure the safety and well-being of the school community given current and emerging conditions; and what is practical in light of the specifics of our school programs and the timing of the school year.

Our full 2022-23 School Operations Plan can be found below. Please note that these policies and practices are supplemental to the rules and expectations found in the Student Handbook.

  • PRINCIPLES FOR RUNNING SCHOOL

As College Prep has considered and designed its plan, the School has been guided by three principles:

Prioritize the health and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff.
College Prep will ensure that our hygiene- and health-related policies are research-based, clearly communicated, effectively implemented, and diligently enforced. Our goal is to reduce the risk of virus transmission in order both to support our school community, and to help mitigate the broader health risks faced by our region.

Provide for continuity of teaching and learning.
College Prep believes in the pursuit of academic excellence and that the optimal learning environment is one in which students are learning from their teachers and fellow students in person. While health circumstances may necessitate accommodations and adaptations, our goal is to support our students’ learning and development as seamlessly as possible.

Act with flexibility and fidelity to our Mission and Philosophy.
Values matter, especially during a crisis. They permit us to navigate complexity and compel us to reflect on our relationships with, and obligations to, others. Most important, they inform our decisions and actions. As we respond to dynamic circumstances, we will make decisions that support our students’ needs and our school’s distinctive mission and culture.
  • HEALTH AND SAFETY & EXPECTATIONS FOR BEHAVIOR

As a community, we are responsible for protecting ourselves and each other from the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. In order to create a welcoming and safe environment, we must all adhere to, and hold each other accountable to, College Prep’s health and safety protocols.

    Reporting Concerns
If students, faculty, or staff observe individuals failing to comply with the Health & Safety Compact, they should feel empowered to speak with the individual directly. Alternatively or additionally, students can report the matter to a faculty or staff member or directly to Dean Chabon. Faculty and staff can report to their supervisor and/or any administrator. If it is determined that expectations have been violated, the matter will then be assessed and consequences will be enforced.
  • WHERE TO GO WITH QUESTIONS

College Prep’s faculty and staff are here to ensure that students and their families have the information and resources they need for school.
