What advice would you give to 8th graders applying to high school? A piece of advice I would give to 8th graders applying is to put yourself out there. When I was applying I had to remind myself that schools want to learn about me, so I should make sure to tell them.

Biggest difference between middle school and high school? The biggest difference between middle school and high school is the relationship between students and teachers. At my middle school you would simply go into the class and as soon as it was over everyone would rush to leave as soon as possible. At College Prep after class students always thank the teachers and stay to ask more questions, which is really different from middle school.

What is your favorite place on campus (and why)? My favorite place on campus is the bench/stairs facing the library near the hill building. I love them because it gets really sunny during the afternoon, so it turns into a great place to study or talk with friends in the sun..

Campus Involvement: I did cross country in the fall of freshman year and it has been one of my favorite things at CPS because it helped me get to know a lot of people before school started. Most of my friends are actually on the cross country team, it was definitely a great and super fun way to get to know people. I also did the yearbook which was a new experience for me and it really helped me learn more about cool traditions about CPS from upperclassmen and it was a really fun environment to work on the yearbook in. I am currently taking Intermediate Dance, which has become one of my favorite classes because it is a way to express my emotions in a different way, and I love learning different styles.   I met a lot of amazing people that I have become closer with because of the dance program. I also did Drama Tech last semester which helped me learn more about what goes on backstage during performances, I learned how to use new tools and skills and of course meet a lot of fun people! I am also a part of LatinX which has helped me connect to other people who share Latinx heritage.

What has been your favorite class so far (and why)?  My favorite class has definitely been Physics. Physics has been one of my most challenging classes, but the level of support I had really helped me learn the material. The hands-on projects we had taught me how to balance time as well as use the knowledge I learned on paper and put it into action.

What is your favorite character from a movie/book/television series? My all time favorite show is The Office, I love all the funny jokes and weird people all with different quirks. My favorite is probably Dwight, not because I think I’m like him,  but because I admire that Dwight always has a lot of motivation and commitment to whatever he is doing. He will always commit 110% to the task at hand, and deep down really cares about his coworkers and friends.

Three unusual things about you:
1. I love backpacking, and being outdoors in general!
2. I was born in North Carolina and lived there until 4th grade.
3. I have citizenship to 3 countries.
